Aclara Substation Communications Equipment

This control unit connects upstream to utility software using almost any standard communications technology available, and downstream to meters using the TWACS® technology network signal on the existing power lines. The substation communications equipment prioritizes and transmits outgoing messages from the utility - such as requests for meter-reads, load control commands and status information.

In addition, using the CST for power management can help utilities avoid power-purchase penalties.
